The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC10M2500CD is a flexible cylinder hone designed for finishing and deburring small-diameter bores with precision abrasive action. It uses a diamond abrasive at 2500 grit, placing it in the extra fine grade range, making it well-suited for final finishing passes where surface finish quality matters. The tool reaches a maximum bore diameter of 0.39 inches (10 millimeters) and has an overall length of 8 inches, with a 2-inch abrasive section and a shank diameter of 0.14 inches. Maximum operating speed is 1200 RPM. Machinists, toolroom technicians, and precision maintenance professionals use this hone in drill presses, lathes, or hand drills for controlled bore refinement.
This hone is built for use on hard, dense materials including carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel. These are materials that conventional abrasives struggle to cut cleanly, making the diamond abrasive construction the defining feature for this application. Typical use cases include finishing hydraulic valve bores, injector bodies, precision instrument housings, and small mechanical components where bore geometry and surface finish must be held tight. The flexible ball-style abrasive segments conform to the bore, allowing the hone to correct minor irregularities while producing a consistent crosshatch or polished finish depending on dwell and stroke technique.
Designed for use on carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel bores with a maximum bore diameter of 0.39 inches. Fits standard chucks and collets accepting a 0.14-inch shank.
Mount the shank securely in a drill press, lathe tailstock, or hand drill chuck before operation. Do not exceed 1200 RPM. Use a compatible honing oil or coolant appropriate for the work material to extend abrasive life and improve surface finish. Inspect the abrasive segments before use and replace the tool if segments show uneven wear or damage.
