The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. BC10M170200CD is a flexible cylinder hone designed for fine finishing and surface conditioning of small-bore cylinders. It uses diamond abrasive at an extra fine grit rating of 170, making it suited for precision work on hard materials including carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel. The hone has a maximum bore diameter of 0.39 inches (10 millimeters), an abrasive length of 2 inches, and an overall length of 8 inches. The shank diameter measures 0.14 inches for compatibility with standard rotary tool chucks. Maximum operating speed is 1200 RPM.
This hone is used in machine shops, toolrooms, and production environments where tight bore tolerances are required on hard substrates. It is well suited for finishing hydraulic valve bores, injector bores, small pneumatic cylinders, and precision tooling components. The flexible construction allows the abrasive stones to follow the bore geometry and make consistent contact across the full abrasive length. Machinists, tool and die makers, and maintenance technicians working with carbide or ceramic components are the primary users of this tool.
Designed for use on carbide, ceramic, and hardened tool steel bores up to 0.39 inches in diameter. Fits standard rotary tool chucks via the 0.14-inch shank diameter.
This tool is installed in a drill press, lathe, or hand-held rotary tool by a machinist or skilled technician. Secure the shank firmly in the chuck before use and do not exceed the rated 1200 RPM maximum speed. Use an appropriate cutting fluid or lubricant for the workpiece material to extend abrasive life and improve surface finish. Inspect the abrasive stones for wear before each use and replace the hone when consistent bore contact can no longer be maintained.
