The BRUSH RESEARCH MFG. B46B is a crimped-wire scratch brush with brass fill and a wood shoe-style handle, designed for surface preparation, cleaning, and deburring in trade and light industrial applications. The brush features 4 rows and 16 columns of brass bristles arranged across an overall length of 10.25 inches. Brass fill is non-sparking and resistant to corrosion, making it appropriate for use on softer metals and in environments where ferrous contamination must be avoided. The shoe handle provides a low-profile grip suited to detail work and confined-surface cleaning. HVAC, plumbing, and general mechanical technicians commonly keep this type of brush on hand for flux application prep, fitting cleaning, and light scale removal.
The B46B is suited for both residential and light commercial service work. Common applications include cleaning copper pipe fittings before soldering, removing oxidation from electrical contacts, deburring machined surfaces, and general surface preparation on metals and wood. The crimped brass bristles provide moderate abrasive action without scoring soft base materials. The shoe handle style allows the brush to be worked flat against a surface or guided into tight channels where a standard block-style brush would not fit.
Designed as a general-purpose scratch brush for surface preparation, fitting cleaning, and deburring tasks across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical service applications.
This tool requires no installation. Use appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection, when operating wire brushes, as bristle fragments can become projectiles under load. Inspect bristles before each use and replace the brush if fill is damaged or significantly worn. For use on energized electrical components, ensure the circuit is de-energized and locked out before brushing contacts or terminals per NFPA 70E guidelines.
