The BROWNING 1078245 is a Type H split taper bushing designed for use with split taper sprockets and sheaves in power transmission applications. Machined from iron, this bushing features a 0.625 inch bore with a 3/16 inch keyway width and 3/32 inch keyway depth, allowing secure shaft engagement under load. The outside diameter measures 2.5 inches, and the bushing accepts a 1/4 x 3/4 thread size for draw-up fasteners. Maximum rated torque is 95 inch-pounds. This type of bushing is installed by millwrights, mechanical contractors, and industrial maintenance technicians working on conveyor, pump, and drive systems.
The 1078245 fits into the H bushing series and is intended for use wherever split taper mounting is specified. Split taper bushings are common in commercial and industrial settings, including material handling conveyor lines, HVAC belt drives, pump drives, and general power transmission equipment. The split taper design allows the bushing to be drawn tight onto the shaft by tightening the set screws or cap screws, eliminating the need for a press fit. This bushing is suited to moderate-torque shaft connections in fixed or variable-speed drive assemblies.
Designed for use with split taper sprockets and sheaves requiring a Type H bushing with a 0.625 inch bore.
Installation should be performed by a qualified millwright or mechanical technician. De-energize and lock out the drive system completely before removing or installing any bushing. Clean the bore, shaft, and hub taper surfaces before assembly to ensure proper seating and torque transfer. Do not lubricate the taper mating surfaces unless the manufacturer documentation specifically requires it, as lubrication can cause hub splitting or over-draw.
