The BROWNING 1045814 is a two-groove variable pitch sheave designed for adjustable-speed belt drive applications in HVAC, industrial, and commercial mechanical systems. Cast from iron, it accepts a 5/8-inch bore and measures 3.35 inches in outside diameter with a sheave thickness of 3 inches. The variable pitch design allows technicians to fine-tune fan or blower speed without changing belt length or swapping fixed sheaves, making it a practical choice during system commissioning or airflow balancing. Licensed HVAC mechanics and millwrights are the primary installers.
This sheave is suited for light-to-medium duty belt drive arrangements found in residential and light commercial air handlers, fan coil units, and ventilation systems. It is compatible with 3L, 4L, A, 5L, and B section V-belts, covering a wide range of standard fractional and classical belt profiles. Face width ranges from 1-3/8 inches to 2 inches depending on pitch setting. The adjustable pitch range allows the installer to dial in the correct driven speed for the application without sourcing a different fixed sheave.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or upgrade variable pitch sheave for belt drive systems using 3L, 4L, A, 5L, or B section V-belts with a 5/8-inch shaft bore requirement.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician or qualified millwright. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the motor before removing or installing any sheave. Ensure the bore fits the motor shaft with proper keyway engagement and that set screws are tightened to secure the sheave before restarting the drive. After adjusting pitch diameter for target speed, verify belt tension and alignment per standard V-belt drive practices before returning the unit to service.
