The BOSTON GEAR 35686 is an oil impregnated bronze flanged sleeve bearing designed for light- to medium-duty rotating shaft applications. It features a plain bore with a 1.252-inch inside diameter and a 1.503-inch outside diameter, giving a controlled fit on standard 1-1/4-inch shafts. The flange measures 1-3/4 inches in outside diameter with a 3/16-inch thickness, providing a positive axial stop during installation. The overall length is 1-1/4 inches. The sintered bronze construction retains lubricating oil within the material, reducing the need for external lubrication in many service conditions. Millwrights, maintenance technicians, and mechanical contractors install this bearing type in motors, fans, conveyors, and general industrial machinery.
This bearing is suited for residential and light commercial mechanical equipment as well as general industrial machinery where a self-lubricating plain bore insert is specified. Typical applications include electric motor end bells, blower shaft housings, fan assemblies, and similar rotating equipment where a flanged design is required to control axial shaft movement. The oil impregnated bronze material performs well in moderate-speed, moderate-load environments and is compliant with SAE 20 (ISO 68) and SAE 30 (ISO 100) lubricant standards.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement flanged sleeve bearing for equipment specifying a 1-1/4-inch ID, 1-1/2-inch OD, oil impregnated bronze plain bore insert with a flanged shoulder.
Flanged sleeve bearings of this type are typically pressed or driven into a machined housing bore by a qualified millwright or mechanical technician. De-energize and lock out all equipment before removing the old bearing or installing the replacement. Use an arbor press and a proper-sized driver that contacts the outer surface of the bearing only - do not strike the bore surface directly. Verify housing bore dimensions and shaft tolerances before installation to ensure correct fit and prevent premature wear.
