The BOSTON GEAR 35656 is an oil-impregnated bronze flanged sleeve bearing designed for rotating shaft applications in industrial and mechanical assemblies. It features a 0.752-inch bore, a 1.003-inch outside diameter, and an overall length of 1.25 inches. The integral flange measures 1.25 inches in outside diameter and 5/32 inch thick, providing positive axial location and a mounting face for housing retention. The sintered bronze construction holds lubricant within the material matrix, reducing the need for external re-lubrication under normal operating conditions. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and equipment rebuilders install this bearing type in motors, conveyors, fans, and light industrial machinery.
This bearing suits light to moderate radial load applications where a self-lubricating plain bore solution is preferred over rolling-element designs. The flanged configuration is commonly used in through-bore housings where shoulder registration is needed to control shaft positioning. It fits residential and commercial equipment including fractional-horsepower motors, blower assemblies, and general power transmission drives. The rated maximum pressure-velocity value of 50,000 psi-ft/min governs operating envelope selection.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement flanged sleeve bearing for equipment requiring a 3/4-inch bore, 1-inch OD plain bronze bushing with a flanged shoulder in standard industrial housing bores.
Millwrights and maintenance technicians install flanged sleeve bearings using a properly sized arbor press to avoid cocking or distorting the bore during installation. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before disassembling the shaft assembly. Press the bearing in from the flange face side so the flange seats flush against the housing face, and verify bore alignment before re-assembling the shaft. Do not hammer directly on the bearing face, as this can collapse the bore and alter the finished dimension.
