The BOSTON GEAR 35634 is an oil impregnated bronze flanged sleeve bearing designed for rotary and sliding shaft applications in light- to medium-duty machinery. With a 5/8 inch bore, 7/8 inch outside diameter, and 1 inch overall length, this bearing provides a self-lubricating plain bore interface that reduces friction without requiring external grease fittings. The flanged design allows the bearing to seat positively against a housing shoulder, restraining axial movement on one side. A maximum pressure-velocity (PV) rating of 50,000 psi makes it suitable for moderate-load, moderate-speed applications. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and HVAC equipment technicians commonly install this type of bearing in fan assemblies, blower shafts, and light industrial drives.
This bearing is well suited for residential and commercial HVAC blower motors, small conveyor systems, pump shafts, and general machinery where a compact, self-lubricating bushing is preferred over a rolling-element bearing. The oil impregnated bronze construction wicks lubricant to the bore surface during operation, making it a practical choice in applications where periodic re-lubrication is impractical or inconvenient. The flange outside diameter of 1-1/8 inches and flange thickness of 5/32 inches allow it to mount flush against a housing face without additional retaining hardware in many standard installations.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement flanged sleeve bearing for applications requiring a 5/8 inch bore, 7/8 inch outside diameter, and 1 inch overall length in oil impregnated bronze.
Installation is typically performed by a millwright, HVAC technician, or maintenance mechanic. De-energize and lock out the equipment before removing the worn bearing. Press or drive the bearing into the housing bore using an arbor press or a properly sized driver to avoid distorting the flange or bore. Do not hammer directly on the bearing face. Verify shaft-to-bore clearance after installation to confirm smooth rotation without excessive play.
