The BOSTON GEAR 35544 is an oil impregnated bronze flanged sleeve bearing designed for use in rotating shaft applications where low maintenance and consistent lubrication are required. With a 5/16-inch inside diameter, 1/2-inch outside diameter, and 1/2-inch overall length, this plain bore bearing delivers reliable radial load support in compact assemblies. The self-lubricating bronze construction eliminates the need for external grease fittings in most service intervals, reducing downtime in light-to-medium duty machinery. It is suited for installation by mechanical technicians and millwrights working on conveyor systems, pumps, fans, and general industrial equipment.
This bearing is a common choice for residential and light commercial mechanical assemblies where shaft speeds and loads fall within the rated pressure-velocity limit. The flanged design provides positive axial positioning against a housing shoulder, preventing migration under thrust loads. The 11/16-inch flange outside diameter and 3/32-inch flange thickness seat securely in standard counterbored housings. Typical applications include electric motors, small gear reducers, appliance drives, and HVAC blower assemblies requiring a reliable sleeve bearing with no external lubrication requirement.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement flanged sleeve bearing for light industrial and mechanical equipment requiring a 5/16-inch bore plain bronze bushing with a flanged housing interface.
Installation is typically performed by mechanical technicians or millwrights. De-energize and lock out all power to the equipment before beginning bearing replacement per OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Press-fit bearings should be installed using an arbor press and an appropriately sized driver to avoid deforming the flange or bore. Do not drive the bearing using impact tools applied directly to the flange face, as this can distort the bore diameter and affect shaft clearance.
