The BOSTON GEAR 35530 is an oil impregnated bronze flanged sleeve bearing designed for light-load rotary and oscillating shaft applications. It features a plain bore with a 0.252 inch inside diameter and a 0.377 inch outside diameter, giving close running clearances straight out of the package. The integral flange seats against a housing face to provide axial location and thrust resistance without a separate retaining component. At 0.5 inch overall length and a weight of 0.008 pounds, this bearing is well suited for compact assemblies where space and weight are constrained. The sintered bronze construction holds a reservoir of oil within the material, delivering continuous lubrication to the shaft surface during operation. It is installed by HVAC technicians, millwrights, and maintenance trades across fan, motor, and light machinery applications.
This bearing is used in residential and light commercial equipment wherever a small-diameter flanged sleeve bearing is required for low-speed, moderate-load shaft support. Common install scenarios include evaporator and condenser fan motor housings, draft inducer assemblies, small gear reducers, and comparable rotating equipment that calls for a self-lubricating bronze bushing. The flanged design simplifies housing machining by providing a positive stop face. No external lubrication line or grease fitting is required during normal service life.
Designed as a standard OEM-style flanged sleeve bearing for equipment requiring a 1/4 inch shaft bore with a flanged housing interface. Specific model compatibility should be confirmed against housing bore and shaft diameter tolerances before installation.
Installation is typically performed by millwrights, HVAC technicians, or qualified maintenance personnel. Always de-energize and lock out the equipment before removing or pressing in a sleeve bearing. Press the bearing in squarely using an arbor press or a properly sized installation tool - never drive the bearing in with a hammer strike directly on the flange face, as this can deform the flange and distort the bore. Verify shaft and housing bore dimensions against the bearing tolerances before assembly to ensure proper fit and running clearance.
