The BOSTON GEAR 35008 is an oil-impregnated bronze sleeve bearing designed for rotary shaft support in industrial and commercial mechanical systems. With a 0.878-inch bore (7/8 inch nominal), a 1.128-inch outside diameter, and a 1.25-inch overall length, this plain bore bearing provides self-lubricating performance without an external grease fitting. The sintered bronze construction retains oil within its porous matrix, releasing it gradually under load and heat to maintain a continuous lubricating film between the shaft and bearing surface. Licensed mechanical and maintenance technicians install these in electric motors, conveyor systems, fan assemblies, and general power transmission equipment.
This bearing is suited for moderate-speed, moderate-load applications in both residential and light commercial mechanical systems. Its plain bore style accepts standard shaft diameters of 7/8 inch and integrates into housings designed around a 1-1/8 inch outside diameter bore. The oil-impregnated design reduces maintenance intervals compared to grease-packed alternatives, making it practical for enclosed or hard-to-access bearing locations. Technicians working on motor rebuilds, blower assemblies, and small gear drives commonly specify this type of sleeve bearing.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement sleeve bearing for shafts with a 7/8-inch nominal diameter in applications requiring a 1-1/8-inch OD housing bore and 1-1/4-inch overall length.
Installation is typically performed by licensed millwrights, motor repair technicians, or experienced maintenance mechanics. De-energize and lock out all power to the driven equipment before removing the worn bearing. Press-fit or hand-press the bearing into its housing bore, ensuring the bearing is square to the housing face before seating fully. Avoid impact directly on the bearing face; use a proper bearing driver or arbor press to prevent distortion of the bore.
