The BOSTON GEAR 34822 is an oil-impregnated bronze sleeve bearing designed for low-maintenance rotational and sliding shaft support in light-to-medium duty industrial and mechanical applications. With a plain bore measuring 0.627 inches inside diameter and an outside diameter of 0.753 inches, this bearing fits standard shaft and housing configurations without additional machining in most cases. The overall length is 0.625 inches. The sintered bronze construction holds lubricant within the material matrix, reducing the need for external re-lubrication during normal service. It meets SAE 20 (ISO 68) and SAE 30 (ISO 100) standards and carries a maximum pressure times velocity rating of 50,000 psi-ft/min.
This bearing is suited for use in electric motors, small gear reducers, conveyor systems, fans, pumps, and general machinery where a cost-effective, self-lubricating bushing solution is required. It is commonly installed in both residential and light commercial equipment by maintenance technicians and mechanical tradespeople. The plain bore design accommodates standard shaft tolerances and allows for press-fit installation into housings.
Designed as a direct-fit replacement sleeve bearing for applications requiring a 5/8-inch ID plain bore bronze bushing with a 3/4-inch OD and 5/8-inch overall length in motors, fans, gear reducers, and general mechanical assemblies.
Installation is typically performed by maintenance technicians or mechanical tradespeople using a bearing press or appropriately sized arbor to seat the bushing flush within the housing bore. Ensure the shaft and housing are clean and within manufacturer tolerances before pressing the bearing into place. Power down and de-energize all equipment before replacing bearings. Avoid using an oversized or misaligned driver that could distort the bore during installation.
