The BOSTON GEAR 34660 is an oil-impregnated bronze sleeve bearing designed for rotary and oscillating shaft applications in mechanical and industrial equipment. With a 0.377-inch bore, 0.5645-inch outside diameter, and 1.25-inch overall length, this plain-bore bushing provides a self-lubricating bearing surface that reduces friction and wear on rotating shafts. The sintered bronze construction wicks and retains oil within its porous structure, eliminating the need for external lubrication in most service conditions. It is well-suited for light-duty to moderate-duty drive systems where low-maintenance bearing performance is required. Maintenance technicians, millwrights, and equipment repair professionals typically install this type of bearing during scheduled overhauls or component replacement work.
This sleeve bearing fits applications where a compact, low-profile bushing is needed to support a 3/8-inch diameter shaft. Common installation scenarios include small motors, fans, conveyors, pumps, and gear-driven assemblies where shaft loads are moderate and continuous lubrication access is limited. The oil-impregnated design makes it particularly practical in enclosed housings or hard-to-reach locations. It carries a maximum pressure-velocity rating of 50,000 psi-ft/min, which defines the upper operating limit for combined load and surface speed.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation sleeve bearing for mechanical assemblies requiring a 3/8-inch ID, 9/16-inch OD, plain-bore bronze bushing in motors, fans, pumps, conveyors, and similar rotating equipment.
Installation is typically performed by millwrights, maintenance technicians, or equipment repair professionals. De-energize and lock out all power to the equipment before removing the worn bearing and pressing in the replacement. Use a properly sized arbor press and a bearing driver sized to the outside diameter to avoid distorting the bore during installation. Do not ream or machine the bore unless the installed ID requires final sizing to meet shaft clearance specifications for the application.
