The BOSHART UPPP-12 is a polypropylene insert plug designed for use with polyethylene pipe systems. This fitting seals the open end of a polyethylene pipe line, capping flow or pressure in irrigation, water supply, and fluid transfer applications. Made from polypropylene, it resists corrosion and chemical degradation common in outdoor and underground service environments. At 0.06 pounds, it is a lightweight, single-unit fitting suited for quick termination work. Plumbers, irrigation technicians, and water system installers use this plug when capping branch lines or temporarily or permanently closing off pipe ends.
This plug is sized for 1-1/4 inch polyethylene pipe and fits into standard insert-style connections. It is commonly used in residential and light commercial water distribution, irrigation mainlines, and well water supply systems where polyethylene tubing is the pipe material of choice. Its insert-style design allows it to be seated into the pipe end and secured with a clamp or crimp ring per standard installation practice.
Designed as an OEM-style insert plug for 1-1/4 inch polyethylene pipe systems using insert-style fittings.
Installation is typically performed by a licensed plumber or irrigation technician. Shut off system pressure and relieve line pressure before inserting or removing any fitting. Seat the plug fully into the pipe end and secure with an appropriately sized stainless clamp or crimp ring per manufacturer and local plumbing code requirements. Do not overtighten clamps to the point of deforming the fitting or pipe wall.
