The ROBERT BOSCH TOOL GROUP NS400 is a specialized carbide-tipped tile drill bit engineered for drilling into natural stone, slate, granite, and other hard specialty tile materials. The multi-grind head features multiple cutting edges that improve cutting speed and bit longevity in dense, abrasive substrates where standard tile bits fail prematurely. A centered tip geometry prevents skating at the start of the hole, reducing setup time and improving accuracy. This bit is sized at 5/16 inches and comes in a 4-pack, making it a practical choice for tile installers and stone fabricators who work with these materials regularly.
The NS400 is designed for use in natural stone tile applications including slate and granite installations, as well as other specialty tile materials that are harder than standard ceramic tile. It is compatible with hammer drills, which is the recommended tool for driving this bit through dense stone substrates. This bit is not recommended for use on porcelain tiles. Typical use cases include setting anchor holes, fixture penetrations, and drain openings in stone tile floors, walls, and countertop surrounds in both residential and light commercial settings.
Engineered for use in natural stone tile, slate, granite, and other specialty tile materials harder than standard ceramic tile. Compatible with hammer drills. Not recommended for use on porcelain tiles.
Installation should be performed by a qualified tile installer or contractor familiar with stone drilling techniques. Before drilling, secure the workpiece and use a drill guide or tape to assist with initial bit positioning if needed. Always use water or an appropriate coolant when drilling natural stone to manage heat buildup and extend bit life. Follow all applicable safety guidelines for rotary and hammer drill operation.
