The ROBERT BOSCH TOOL GROUP DSB1003 is a 3/8-inch by 6-inch spade bit from the Daredevil line, designed for fast, clean boring through wood and wood-based materials. It features a full cone threaded tip that pulls the bit into the material for effortless drilling without manual pressure. The contoured paddle accelerates chip removal to keep the hole clear during the cut. Spur and reamer tips score the perimeter of the bore for cleaner hole edges. The 1/4-inch hex shank provides a secure, quick-change fit in standard hex-accepting drills and impact drivers. Drilling depth reaches 5 inches. Electricians, plumbers, and general contractors use this bit for rough-in drilling tasks through framing, joists, and similar substrates.
The DSB1003 is suited for residential and light commercial rough-in work where 3/8-inch bored holes are required through dimensional lumber, engineered wood, and similar structural members. Typical applications include drilling wire and pipe passages through wall framing, floor joists, and top or bottom plates. The 6-inch overall length provides reach into confined framing bays. Supplied in a package quantity of 5 bits, making it practical for production drilling on active job sites.
Compatible with any drill or impact driver equipped with a standard 1/4-inch hex chuck or quick-change hex adapter. Designed for use in wood, plywood, OSB, and similar wood-based building materials.
Installation is performed by electricians, plumbers, and carpenters during rough-in phases. Ensure the drill or driver is set to the appropriate speed range for spade bits — high torque at moderate RPM is preferred for clean cuts. Keep the bit perpendicular to the work surface when starting the hole to prevent the threaded tip from walking. Inspect spur tips for wear regularly; a dull spur will produce ragged hole edges and increased feed force.
