The BOSCH boha-60rtb-m18s is a 5-ton inverter-driven ducted split heat pump from the IDS Edge product line, rated up to 19 SEER2 and 10.8 HSPF2. It uses R-454B refrigerant, a low-GWP alternative to R-410A, making it a forward-compatible choice for both retrofit and new construction installations. The compact side-discharge outdoor unit houses an inverter-driven compressor that modulates capacity continuously to match load conditions, reducing short-cycling and improving system efficiency. Licensed HVAC technicians install this unit as part of a complete split system, pairing it with compatible air handlers, cased coils, or furnaces depending on the application.
The boha-60rtb-m18s is designed for residential ducted applications where precise capacity control and cold-climate heating performance are required. In single-zone configurations, it pairs with existing IDS Premium air handlers, cased coils, and furnaces. For multi-zone setups, the inverter-based platform supports a range of compatible ducted and ductless indoor options while keeping system design and installation straightforward. Its compact outdoor footprint suits tight installations common in retrofit projects, and its cold-climate capable performance makes it appropriate for heating-dominant climate zones.
Compatible with IDS Premium air handlers, cased coils, and furnaces for single-zone applications. The inverter-based platform also supports a range of compatible ducted and ductless indoor units for multi-zone installations. Suitable for residential retrofit and new construction ducted split system applications.
Installation must be performed by a licensed HVAC technician holding the appropriate EPA Section 608 certification for R-454B refrigerant handling. Disconnect and lock out all electrical power to the system before beginning any wiring or refrigerant work. Follow local mechanical and electrical codes, including applicable sections of the NEC, for disconnect sizing, wire gauge, and ground requirements. Do not mix refrigerant types or attempt to retrofit this unit with R-410A system components not rated for R-454B service pressures.
