The BONEHAM SFT285GZ is a slip-fixed drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools accurately during drilling, reaming, and similar machining operations. Built from steel, this headed bushing installs into a drill jig or fixture and is secured with a compatible lock screw to prevent rotation and axial movement during use. The inside diameter is 0.238 inches (Letter Size B) with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, keeping tool runout minimal. The body outside diameter is 0.4375 inches (7/16 inches) and the length under the head is 0.3125 inches (5/16 inches). The head outside diameter is 0.625 inches (5/8 inches) and the head height is 0.25 inches (1/4 inches). This bushing is renewable, meaning it can be removed and replaced without disturbing the surrounding fixture.
The SFT285GZ is used in production and toolroom environments where repeatable hole location is required. It fits into a liner bushing already installed in the jig, allowing the slip-fixed bushing to be swapped out when worn without reworking the fixture plate. Typical applications include metalworking jigs in manufacturing, maintenance shops, and machine shops where multiple operations are performed at the same hole location. The LS-TW-2 lock screw compatibility ensures positive retention during the drilling cycle.
Designed as a renewable slip-fixed drill bushing for use with LS-TW-2 compatible lock screws in standard drill jigs and fixtures accepting a 7/16 inch body outside diameter liner bushing.
Installation is performed by machinists or toolroom technicians during jig setup or bushing replacement. The slip-fixed bushing seats into a pressed liner bushing and is locked in place with the appropriate LS-TW-2 lock screw before beginning the drilling cycle. Ensure the mating liner bushing bore and the SFT285GZ body OD are clean and free of chips or burrs before insertion. Always engage the lock screw fully before applying cutting tool pressure to prevent bushing movement.
