The BONEHAM PT248FZ is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Machined from steel and hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing resists wear under repeated drilling, reaming, and boring operations. It carries an inside diameter of 0.196 inches (wire size No. 9) with a tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, a body outside diameter of 3/8 inches, and an overall length of 1/2 inch. The headless profile seats flush within the jig plate for clearance-sensitive setups. This is a permanent, non-renewable bushing installed by press fit and conforms to ANSI standards.
This bushing is used in production drilling jigs, fixture plates, and tooling assemblies where consistent hole location and tool guidance are required. The headless design is appropriate when the top face of the jig plate must remain unobstructed or when a liner bushing is not used. Typical users include tool-and-die makers, machinist shops, and maintenance technicians setting up or refurbishing drill jigs in manufacturing environments. The P industry code designates it as a standard press fit headless type per ANSI jig bushing classifications.
Designed as a standard ANSI press fit headless drill bushing for use in jig plates and fixture assemblies requiring a 3/8-inch outside diameter press fit bore and 0.196-inch tool guidance diameter.
Installation is performed by tool-and-die makers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to seat the bushing into a properly toleranced jig plate bore. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate interference fit per ANSI jig bushing standards before pressing. Once installed, this bushing is not intended to be removed and replaced. Always verify bore alignment and cleanliness before pressing to avoid cocking or galling the bushing during seating.
