The BONEHAM PT1210CN is a headless press fit drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools accurately during drilling, reaming, and boring operations. Machined from steel, this type P bushing features an inside diameter of 0.086 inches (wire size number 44) and a body outside diameter of 3/16 inches. The press fit installation method locks the bushing directly into the jig plate without a head flange, keeping the top surface flush. Overall bushing length is 5/8 inches. Inside diameter tolerance is held to a close +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, ensuring repeatable hole location across production runs. Machinists, tool and die makers, and fixture builders install this component in drill jigs and tooling fixtures.
This bushing suits metal fabrication, machining, and assembly fixture applications where a permanent, non-renewable guide bushing is required. The headless design is appropriate when the bushing must sit flush with or below the jig plate surface, avoiding interference with workpiece clamping or part clearance. It is a fixed, non-renewable bushing, meaning it is pressed in for long-term service rather than swapped out between operations. Typical installations include production drill jigs used in metalworking shops, maintenance and repair tooling, and custom fixture builds.
Designed as a standard type P headless press fit drill bushing for use in drill jigs and machining fixtures requiring a 3/16 inch outside diameter press fit bore and a 0.086 inch inside diameter tool guide.
Press fit bushings are installed by machinists or toolmakers using an arbor press or hydraulic press; never drive the bushing in with a hammer directly, as this risks distorting the bore or damaging the jig plate. The receiving bore in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate press fit tolerance before installation. Once pressed in, the bushing is not intended for removal or replacement. Always verify inside diameter after pressing to confirm the bore has not closed beyond the specified tolerance range.
