The BONEHAM P404IM is a headless, press fit drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision during machining and fabrication operations. Manufactured from steel and hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing provides the wear resistance needed for repetitive drilling in production jigs and fixtures. The P404IM carries a 0.3125-inch (5/16-inch) inside diameter, a 5/8-inch outside diameter, and an overall length of 1/4 inch. The headless profile sits flush with the jig plate surface, making it the right choice when a protruding flange would interfere with the workpiece or tooling clearance. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and industrial maintenance technicians are the typical installers.
This bushing is suited for use in drill jig plates, fixture bodies, and production tooling in machine shops, manufacturing facilities, and maintenance departments. Its compact 1/4-inch length makes it appropriate for thin jig plates where a longer bushing would bottom out or reduce support. The press fit installation method means the bushing is driven or pressed into a precision-bored hole in the jig body and is not intended for routine removal, making it a permanent or semi-permanent guide element in fixed tooling setups.
Designed as an ANSI-standard P-series headless press fit drill bushing suitable for use in drill jigs and fixtures requiring a 5/16-inch tool guide bore and a 5/8-inch body outside diameter. This is a non-renewable bushing intended for permanent press fit installation.
Installation requires a precision-bored receiver hole machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance for the 5/8-inch outside diameter. A drill press, arbor press, or hydraulic press is typically used to seat the bushing flush and square to the jig plate surface. Do not hammer the bushing in without a proper pressing tool, as this can damage the bore or distort the bushing. Because this is a non-renewable bushing, plan the jig layout accordingly before pressing into the fixture body.
