The BONEHAM P4012KK is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Manufactured from steel hardened to 60 to 65 HRC, this bushing resists wear under repeated drilling cycles. It features a 27/64 inch inside diameter, a 5/8 inch body outside diameter, and a 3/4 inch overall length. The headless design sits flush with the jig plate surface, making it well suited for close-tolerance work where a head flange would interfere. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders install this type of bushing in production and low-volume shop environments alike.
This bushing is used in drill jigs, fixture plates, and tooling blocks where accurate hole location is required across repeated operations. The press fit installation method locks the bushing permanently into the jig body without the need for locking screws or retaining rings, which simplifies fixture construction. It is appropriate for both horizontal and vertical drilling setups. The P industry code designation identifies the outside diameter and length combination per standard tooling catalogs, allowing direct cross-reference when replacing worn bushings in existing fixtures.
Designed as a standard P-series press fit headless drill bushing per ANSI specifications, suitable for use in drill jigs and tooling fixtures that accept a 5/8 inch outside diameter press fit bushing.
Press fit bushings are installed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press - never drive them in with a hammer, as impact can distort the bore. The receiving hole in the jig plate must be reamed to the correct interference fit dimension before installation. Once pressed in, this bushing type is not intended to be removed and reused. Verify bore alignment and surface finish of the jig plate hole before pressing to avoid galling or misalignment.
