The BONEHAM P328HU is a press fit headless drill bushing designed to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision during machining and fabrication operations. Manufactured from steel, this bushing features an inside diameter of 0.277 inches (Letter size J, Wire size P) with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0005 inches to ensure accurate hole location and consistent tool alignment. The outside diameter is 0.5 inches and the overall length is 0.5 inches. The headless design allows the bushing to sit flush within the jig plate, making it well suited for close-tolerance fixture work. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders install this type of bushing as a fixed, non-renewable guide in drill jigs and production fixtures.
This bushing is used in machine shops, metalworking facilities, and manufacturing environments where repeatable hole placement is required. It is installed directly into a drill jig plate using a press fit, eliminating the need for additional fasteners or locking mechanisms. The press fit installation makes this bushing appropriate for permanent applications where the bushing is not expected to be removed and replaced during service. It is commonly found in production drilling, reaming, and light boring setups across both job-shop and production-floor environments.
Designed as an OEM-style press fit headless drill bushing for use in standard drill jig plates and machining fixtures requiring a 0.5 inch outside diameter bushing with a 0.277 inch inside diameter.
Installation is typically performed by a machinist or toolmaker using an arbor press to drive the bushing into a properly reamed hole in the jig plate. The mating hole in the jig plate must be machined to the appropriate press fit tolerance to achieve secure seating. Remove any chips or burrs from the mounting hole before installation to avoid damaging the bushing or misaligning the bore. Once pressed in, this bushing is not intended for removal and reinstallation.
