The BONEHAM P104AY is a press fit headless drill bushing manufactured from steel, designed to guide drill bits and other cutting tools with precision in jig and fixture applications. Carrying bushing industry code P, this headless style installs flush with the jig plate surface without a retaining flange, making it well suited for close-tolerance work where head clearance is restricted. The inside diameter is 0.041 inches (wire gauge #59) with a tight tolerance of +0.0001 to +0.0004 inches, ensuring consistent hole location and repeatability across production runs. Licensed machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders are the primary installers of this component.
The P104AY fits applications requiring precise drill guidance in hard tooling setups, particularly in metalworking, fabrication shops, and production machining environments. With a body outside diameter of 5/32 inches and an overall length of 1/4 inch, this bushing is intended for thin jig plates and compact fixture designs. It is a non-renewable bushing, meaning it is permanently pressed into the jig plate bore rather than used with a liner bushing system. It is appropriate for both low-volume prototype jigs and high-cycle production fixtures.
Designed as a standard P-code press fit headless drill bushing for use in drill jig plates and machining fixtures requiring a 5/32 inch mounting bore and a 0.041 inch (No. 59 wire gauge) drill guide diameter.
Installation is performed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press to drive the bushing into a precision-reamed jig plate bore. The receiving bore must be held to the appropriate interference fit tolerance to achieve proper retention. Ensure the jig plate and bushing bore are clean and free of burrs before pressing. Never drive the bushing with an impact hammer, as this can distort the inside diameter and compromise drill guidance accuracy.
