The BONEHAM AM00000078 is a press fit headless drill bushing conforming to the HM industry code, designed to guide drill bits with precision in jig and fixture applications. The bushing features a 2.75-inch inside diameter and is manufactured from steel for durability under repeated tooling operations. With a body outside diameter of approximately 0.236 inches (6.00 mm) and an overall length of approximately 0.630 inches (16.00 mm), this headless design seats flush within the fixture plate without a flange to interfere with workpiece contact. Installation is permanent press fit, meaning the bushing is driven into the jig plate bore and is not intended to be removed and replaced during normal service.
This bushing is suited for production drilling, reaming, and boring operations where accurate hole location is critical. It is commonly used in tool rooms, machine shops, and manufacturing environments where jig plates require hardened, precisely dimensioned guide bushings. The headless profile is preferred in applications where a protruding flange would interfere with chip clearance, workpiece seating, or close-tolerance hole patterns. Machinists, toolmakers, and fixture builders are the primary installers of this type of component.
Designed as a standard HM-code press fit headless drill bushing for use in jig plates and fixtures requiring a 2.75-inch inside diameter guide. Confirm bore tolerance and interference fit specifications of the receiving plate before installation.
Press fit bushings are installed by toolmakers or machinists using an arbor press or hydraulic press to drive the bushing into the prepared fixture bore. The receiving bore should be machined to the appropriate interference fit tolerance for the bushing outside diameter before installation. Once seated, this bushing is not designed to be removed without damaging the jig plate. Always verify bore alignment and cleanliness before pressing to avoid cocking or galling.
