The BON TOOL 87-112 is a carbide backer board scoring knife designed for cutting and scribing cement backer board in tile and flooring installations. The blade features three tungsten carbide tips that deliver the hardness needed to score dense cement board cleanly and consistently. The chisel tip blade geometry concentrates cutting force along the score line, reducing material crumbling and producing a cleaner snap. This tool is built for tile setters, flooring installers, and remodeling contractors who work with cement backer board on a regular basis.
This scoring knife is suited for residential and light commercial tile work where cement backer board is used as a substrate for tile on floors, walls, and wet areas such as showers and tub surrounds. It handles the repetitive score-and-snap workflow common on backer board installations and is carried as a standard hand tool on tile setting jobs. The compact overall dimensions make it easy to maneuver in tight framing bays or along wall layouts.
Designed for use on cement backer board panels commonly installed as a tile substrate in residential and commercial applications.
This tool is used by tile setters and flooring installers as part of a standard score-and-snap backer board cutting process. No power source is required. Keep the blade tip away from body during scoring strokes and wear appropriate eye protection when snapping scored panels. Replace or resharpen carbide tips when the score line becomes inconsistent or requires multiple passes.
