The BMI USA 6422 is a lead-free brass threaded tee fitting designed for joining and branching pipe runs in residential and light commercial plumbing systems. With a 1/2-inch by 1/2-inch by 1/4-inch configuration, this tee allows a main line to split or feed a smaller branch line in a single compact fitting. Constructed from solid brass, it offers reliable corrosion resistance and durability under normal service pressures. Licensed plumbers and experienced trade installers use this type of fitting in water distribution, compressed air, and hydronic applications where a lead-free material is required by code.
This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing installations where threaded connections are the specified joining method. The 1/2-inch run ports connect to standard half-inch threaded pipe, while the 1/4-inch branch port allows a reduced-size takeoff for instrumentation ports, drain valves, pressure gauge connections, or smaller supply lines. It is a common replacement or new-installation fitting in water supply, HVAC hydronic systems, and low-pressure compressed air lines.
Designed as an OEM-style threaded brass tee fitting for use in standard NPT-threaded pipe systems requiring a 1/2 x 1/2 x 1/4 inch branch configuration.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply thread sealant tape or paste rated for the service medium to all male threads before assembly, and tighten to hand-snug plus a firm wrench turn — avoid overtightening brass fittings, which can crack the body or distort the threads. Inspect for leaks after restoring system pressure.
