The BMI USA 6157 is a lead-free brass hex bushing designed for reducing threaded pipe connections from a larger female thread to a smaller male thread. This fitting is used in plumbing systems where pipe size transitions are required within a threaded assembly. At 4 inches by 2.5 inches, it provides a reliable, pressure-rated reduction in a compact hexagonal body that allows for standard wrench engagement. The lead-free brass construction meets drinking water installation requirements. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting during new construction and retrofit work.
This hex bushing is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing applications where threaded pipe systems require a concentric reduction. It is appropriate for use in potable water supply lines, recirculation systems, and similar threaded pipe assemblies. The hexagonal outer profile allows for secure wrench engagement during installation, reducing the risk of fitting damage when applying the required torque.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard-fit threaded hex bushing for use in residential and commercial potable water plumbing systems with NPT threaded pipe connections.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable IPC or local plumbing code requirements. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before removing or installing any threaded fitting. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads prior to assembly. Do not over-torque; use the hex body for controlled wrench engagement only.
