The BMI USA 4460 is a lead-free brass pipe nipple used to connect threaded pipe sections in plumbing and mechanical systems. Machined from brass with a red finish, this nipple provides a reliable, corrosion-resistant joint between female-threaded fittings, valves, and fixtures. At 1/2 inch diameter and 6 inches in length, it fits standard NPT threaded assemblies. The lead-free construction meets requirements for potable water applications, making it appropriate for domestic water supply lines as well as commercial plumbing installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters install this type of fitting as part of routine pipe assembly and repair work.
This nipple is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing systems where 1/2-inch threaded connections are required. Typical applications include water supply risers, fixture connections, boiler trim, and mechanical room piping. The 6-inch length provides adequate extension between fittings where a close or short nipple would not span the required gap. The brass material performs well in both hot and cold water service and resists the dezincification concerns associated with lower-grade alloys.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement fitting for standard 1/2-inch NPT threaded plumbing assemblies in residential and commercial water supply systems.
Installation is performed by a licensed plumber. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure before threading this nipple into place. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before assembly. Follow local plumbing code requirements, including IPC provisions for potable water fittings, to ensure a compliant installation.
