The BMI USA 35437 is a malleable iron black pipe tee used for joining or branching threaded pipe runs in plumbing, gas, and mechanical piping systems. The black iron finish makes it well suited for gas distribution lines where galvanized fittings are not appropriate. With a reducing configuration of 1 x 1 x 1-1/4 inches, this tee allows a technician to tie a branch line into a main run or transition between pipe sizes at a junction point. Licensed plumbers, pipefitters, and gas fitters are the typical installers.
This tee is used in residential and light commercial applications involving black iron pipe systems, including natural gas supply lines, propane distribution, and general-purpose threaded pipe assemblies. Its malleable iron construction handles the mechanical stress common to threaded fittings in active piping systems. The reducing outlet configuration supports common branching scenarios where the branch run is a different nominal size than the main run.
Designed as a standard NPT-threaded malleable iron fitting for use with black iron pipe in residential and commercial gas, plumbing, and mechanical piping applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC), or the International Plumbing Code (IPC) as required by the application. Shut off gas or water supply and depressurize the line before disassembly or fitting installation. Apply an appropriate thread sealant rated for the service type to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-tighten threaded malleable iron fittings, as this can crack the casting.
