The BMI USA 20379 is an extra-heavy malleable iron street 90-degree elbow designed for demanding pipe systems that require a direct male-to-female threaded change of direction. Finished in black, this fitting accepts a threaded pipe on the male end and connects to a female-threaded fitting on the other, eliminating the need for a separate coupling in tight configurations. At 3.35 pounds, the extra-heavy (XH) wall rating makes it suitable for high-pressure and industrial piping applications where standard-weight fittings are not appropriate. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters are the primary installers of this type of fitting.
This street elbow is used in residential and commercial piping systems where a 90-degree directional change is needed and space constraints favor a street-pattern fitting. Common applications include gas distribution, steam, air, and water piping where extra-heavy malleable iron fittings are specified. The black finish is standard for gas piping applications. It is sized for 2-inch pipe and is compatible with standard NPT threaded connections at that size.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or new-installation extra-heavy malleable iron street elbow for 2-inch NPT threaded piping systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable local codes, the International Plumbing Code (IPC), or the International Fuel Gas Code (IFGC) as required by the application. Shut off and depressurize the line completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape rated for the service type before making up the joint. Do not over-torque malleable iron fittings, as the material can crack under excessive force.
