The BMI USA 20208 is a 45-degree pipe elbow manufactured from extra heavy malleable iron with a black finish. Designed for use in threaded pipe systems, this elbow provides a reliable directional change in piping runs where standard-weight fittings are insufficient. The extra heavy (XH) wall rating makes it suitable for higher-pressure applications and demanding service environments. At 2.18 pounds, it is a robust fitting intended for permanent installation by licensed plumbers and pipefitters working on commercial or industrial systems.
This fitting is suited for threaded iron pipe systems in commercial plumbing, industrial piping, and mechanical applications where an extra heavy malleable iron fitting is specified. The 45-degree angle is commonly used to offset pipe runs around structural elements or to transition piping direction in tight spaces. The black finish is standard for non-potable and gas-rated iron pipe fittings in many jurisdictions, making it appropriate for mechanical rooms, utility systems, and similar installations.
Designed as an OEM-style extra heavy malleable iron threaded fitting compatible with 1.5-inch NPT threaded iron pipe systems where XH-rated fittings are required.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or pipefitter in accordance with applicable IPC or local mechanical code requirements. Shut off and depressurize the pipe system completely before removing or installing any threaded fittings. Apply an appropriate thread sealant or PTFE tape to all male threads before assembly. Do not over-torque threaded connections, as malleable iron fittings can crack under excessive force.
