The BMI 4830 is a lead-free brass pipe nipple designed for use in potable water, hydronic, and general plumbing systems. Measuring 1.5 inches in diameter by 3 inches in length, this close-tolerance nipple provides a reliable threaded connection between fittings, valves, and piping assemblies. The brass construction resists corrosion and stands up to the pressures and temperatures common in residential and light commercial plumbing. Its lead-free designation meets current safe drinking water requirements, making it suitable for potable water installations. Licensed plumbers and pipefitters keep nipples like this on hand for repairs, retrofits, and new rough-in work where a short threaded section is needed to complete a run.
This nipple is used wherever a 1.5-inch threaded connection requires a short extension between two threaded components. Typical applications include water supply lines, hot and cold distribution piping, boiler trim, hydronic heating loops, and general service plumbing in residential and light commercial buildings. It threads into standard NPT fittings, valves, unions, and manifolds. The 3-inch body length provides enough exposed thread and a working section to make up connections cleanly without excessive projection into the line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or standard-service brass pipe nipple for use with 1.5-inch NPT threaded fittings, valves, and piping components in potable water and general plumbing systems.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with local plumbing codes and the International Plumbing Code (IPC). Shut off the water supply and depressurize the line before removing or installing any threaded pipe component. Apply an approved thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads before making up the joint. Do not over-tighten threaded brass fittings, as excessive force can crack the fitting body or distort threads.
