The BMI 46028 is a press-style gas coupling designed for joining 1-inch to 1/2-inch gas lines in residential and light commercial piping systems. Built from carbon steel with an EPDM seal, this fitting uses a press connection method that eliminates the need for threading or soldering on approved systems. It is rated for a maximum working pressure of 125 psi and a temperature range of 40 to 180 degrees F. Licensed plumbers and gas fitters install this fitting as part of press-fit gas distribution systems where speed and reliability of connection are priorities.
This coupling is suited for use in gas piping installations where a reducing connection is needed between 1-inch and 1/2-inch pipe runs. Press gas fittings are commonly found in residential and light commercial natural gas and propane distribution systems. The press connection style makes it a practical choice in tight spaces or retrofit applications where open-flame joining methods are restricted or undesirable.
Designed for use in press-fit gas piping systems accepting 1-inch x 1/2-inch reducing couplings approved for gas service.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber or gas fitter in accordance with local codes and the applicable requirements of the IFGC. Shut off the gas supply and verify the line is depressurized before beginning any fitting work. Use only a calibrated press tool approved for gas-rated press fittings — do not attempt to use standard water press jaws. After pressing, leak-test all connections with an approved gas leak detection solution before restoring service.
