The BK 164-135HC is a 1-inch FIP x FIP Schedule 80 threaded PVC union designed for use in pressurized piping systems. Built from heavy-duty white Schedule 80 PVC, this union provides a removable, leak-resistant connection rated at 150 psi at 73 degrees F, with a maximum operating temperature of 150 degrees F. The EPDM O-ring seal seats securely between mating faces, eliminating the need for additional thread sealant at the union joint. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting wherever a section of piping may need periodic removal or servicing without cutting the line.
This union is suited for residential and light commercial plumbing, irrigation, and industrial fluid-handling applications where PVC is an approved material. The threaded FIP ends comply with ANSI B1.20.1, making it compatible with standard male-threaded pipe and fittings. It can be installed on either Schedule 40 or Schedule 80 pipe, giving installers flexibility when working in mixed-schedule systems. The white PVC construction resists corrosion and is appropriate for cold and warm water service within the rated temperature range.
Designed as a threaded union replacement or new-installation fitting for Schedule 40 and Schedule 80 PVC piping systems using 1-inch female iron pipe (FIP) threaded connections.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Depressurize and drain the piping system fully before disassembling or installing any union fitting. Apply thread sealant or PTFE tape to the male threads being engaged into the FIP ends; do not overtighten threaded PVC fittings, as over-torquing can crack the fitting body. Confirm the EPDM O-ring is properly seated in the union ring groove before making up the union nut.
