The BK 162-103 is a plastic compression PEX tee fitting designed for cold water plumbing distribution systems. It features a female iron pipe (FIP) thread outlet on the compression run, allowing connection to threaded pipe assemblies without soldering or crimping. This fitting is suited for residential and light commercial cold water supply lines and is typically installed by licensed plumbers or experienced pipefitters working on retrofit or new-construction plumbing systems. The 1/2 inch FIP connection provides a reliable, leak-resistant joint when properly assembled with compatible compression components.
This fitting is used in cold water supply applications where a branch connection is needed within a PEX or compatible plastic piping system. The compression design simplifies installation in tight spaces where torch work is not permitted or practical. It is appropriate for residential water distribution, under-sink supply, and similar low-pressure cold water service scenarios.
Designed to fit Schedule 40 cold water iron or PVC pipe. Intended for cold water service only — not rated for hot water or steam applications.
Installation should be performed by a licensed plumber in accordance with applicable local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off the water supply and relieve system pressure completely before cutting into any existing line or disassembling fittings. Hand-tighten compression nuts first, then snug with a wrench — do not overtighten, as plastic fittings can crack under excessive torque. This fitting is rated for cold water service only and must not be used on hot water or steam lines.
