The BK 160-006 is a long-pattern compression galvanized coupling designed for joining or repairing sections of Schedule 40 iron pipe or Schedule 40 PVC pipe. The hydroformed steel body delivers consistent wall strength throughout the fitting. A double-tapered rubber gasket creates two independent seals at each end, reducing the risk of leakage without requiring adhesives or threading. A metal friction ring holds the gasket in place during installation. The coupling is rated up to 125 psi at 210 degrees F, making it suitable for a wide range of pressurized plumbing and water distribution applications. Plumbers and pipefitters install this fitting as a repair or transition coupling in both new construction and service work.
This coupling fits the outside diameter of 1-1/4 inch Schedule 40 iron pipe and 1-1/4 inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe. The 4-1/2 inch body length provides adequate pipe engagement for a secure, leak-resistant joint. Typical applications include water service repairs, underground or above-ground piping systems, and situations where cutting threads or using solvent cement is not practical. The galvanized steel construction suits both indoor mechanical rooms and outdoor or buried installations where corrosion resistance is a factor.
Sized to fit the outside diameter of 1-1/4 inch Schedule 40 iron pipe and 1-1/4 inch Schedule 40 PVC pipe. Designed as an OEM-style compression coupling for standard-dimension pipe in residential and light commercial plumbing systems.
Installation is performed by licensed plumbers or experienced pipefitters in accordance with local plumbing codes and IPC guidelines. Shut off and depressurize the water supply before cutting into any existing line. Pipe ends should be cut square and deburred to ensure full, even contact with the rubber gasket. Do not over-torque the coupling nuts, as this can distort the gasket and compromise the seal.
