The BISON 7-168-020 is a 5C-style round collet sized for 3/16 inch round workpieces. It is designed to chuck and hold cylindrical stock in lathes, indexers, spin fixtures, and collet closers that accept the 5C collet system. Machinists and toolroom technicians use 5C collets to achieve repeatable, concentric workholding with minimal setup time. The 3/16 inch bore makes this collet well suited for small-diameter round bar, pin stock, and similar cylindrical work that requires secure gripping during turning, milling, or grinding operations.
This collet is used in machine shops and production environments where the 5C collet system is standard. Typical applications include light to medium-duty turning and second-operation work on small round stock. The 5C system is widely adopted in toolroom lathes, manual and CNC collet closers, and rotary indexing heads, making this collet a common stock item in job shops and maintenance departments.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-fit collet for machine tool setups that accept the standard 5C collet system.
Installation and removal of 5C collets should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle or collet closer fully de-energized and the machine at a complete stop. Inspect the collet bore and taper seat for chips or burrs before seating, as contamination will affect concentricity. Use the appropriate collet closer or draw tube rated for 5C collets and follow the machine tool manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines.
