The BINARY B-320-1CAT-HDIR is an HDMI extender that transmits 1080p video and infrared (IR) control signals over a single Category cable. It bridges the gap between source devices and displays in installations where running new HDMI cable is impractical or impossible. Licensed AV technicians and low-voltage installers deploy this unit when routing structured wiring through walls, ceilings, or conduit to reach remote displays. The extender handles both the video signal and IR passback over one Cat cable run, reducing the total cable count in the pathway and simplifying termination at both ends.
This extender suits residential and light-commercial AV installations where a source component such as a Blu-ray player, streaming device, or cable box must feed a display mounted at a distance beyond standard HDMI cable limits. It is suited for in-wall structured wiring deployments using existing Cat infrastructure. The IR return path allows users to control the source device from the display location without a separate IR emitter cable run.
Designed as an OEM-style HDMI extender for use with 1080p-capable source devices and displays in low-voltage structured wiring systems utilizing a single Category cable run.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or AV technician familiar with structured wiring practices and local low-voltage codes. Power down all source devices and displays before connecting or disconnecting the extender. Verify that the Category cable run meets length and quality requirements for the signal type before termination. Do not route Category cable in the same conduit as line-voltage wiring.
