The BELDEN INC. FDSL072RD is a loose-tube, OS2 single-mode fiber optic cable rated at 72 fibers and listed OFNR (Optical Fiber Nonconductive Riser) for riser-rated building installations. Loose-tube construction protects the glass strands from moisture and mechanical stress, making this cable well suited for longer runs through conduit, cable trays, and riser pathways. OS2 single-mode fiber supports high-bandwidth, long-distance data transmission and is the standard choice for backbone, campus, and inter-floor structured cabling projects. Licensed low-voltage and communications contractors are the typical installers for this class of cable.
This cable is designed for indoor riser applications where OFNR listing is required by code. Typical deployment scenarios include vertical runs between telecommunications rooms and main distribution areas in commercial buildings, as well as horizontal backbone segments in structured cabling systems. The 72-fiber count makes it appropriate for high-density installations where a single cable run must serve multiple circuits or future expansion capacity is needed. It is sold as a single unit (EA).
Designed as an OEM-style riser fiber optic cable for use in commercial and institutional structured cabling systems requiring OS2 single-mode, 72-fiber, OFNR-listed backbone cable.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or communications cabling contractor familiar with TIA-568 structured cabling standards and applicable NEC riser requirements. De-energize any adjacent electrical systems as required by site safety procedures before pulling cable through shared pathways. Observe the cable manufacturer's minimum bend radius and maximum pulling tension to avoid damaging the fiber strands during installation. Terminate and test with calibrated OTDR or optical loss test equipment per project specifications.
