The BD MANUFACTURING SPC55 is a 1-inch straight coupling designed for polyethylene piping systems joined by socket fusion. Built to SDR 11 dimensional standards and made from PE4710 material, this fitting delivers consistent wall thickness and pressure ratings appropriate for demanding buried and above-ground applications. The socket fusion end connections on both sides allow a licensed plumber or pipe fusion technician to create a continuous, leak-resistant joint without mechanical fasteners or adhesives. Its straight configuration makes it the go-to choice for extending runs or repairing existing polyethylene lines.
This coupling is suited for residential and commercial water service, geothermal loop systems, and irrigation or utility distribution lines where polyethylene pipe is the specified material. The SDR 11 rating makes it compatible with moderate- to high-pressure service conditions typical in water distribution and ground-loop HVAC piping. It is installed wherever a same-diameter inline connection is needed on a 1-inch PE pipe run.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and new-installation fitting for 1-inch SDR 11 polyethylene piping systems using socket fusion joining methods.
Socket fusion fittings must be installed by a technician trained and equipped for polyethylene pipe fusion procedures. Depressurize and drain the line completely before cutting out any section for repair. Use properly sized socket fusion tooling maintained at the correct tool face temperature per the pipe and fitting manufacturer guidance. Follow applicable plumbing code requirements, including IPC provisions for plastic pressure piping, and allow the joint to cool fully before restoring pressure.
