The BARE COPPER bare6solsdmr is a 6 AWG solid soft drawn bare copper conductor supplied in a 5000-foot length, sold cut to length for job-site flexibility. Solid stranding means a single continuous copper strand runs the full length, making this wire well suited for grounding electrode systems, bonding conductors, and direct burial applications where rigid, low-resistance continuity is required. The conductor measures 0.162 inches in outer diameter and weighs 79.5 pounds per thousand feet. Licensed electricians and grounding specialists are the primary installers of this material on both residential and commercial projects.
This conductor is used wherever bare copper grounding or bonding wire is specified by the National Electrical Code or project drawings. Typical applications include grounding electrode conductors run to ground rods or water pipes, equipment bonding jumpers, pool and spa bonding loops, lightning protection grounding, and utility service grounding. The solid construction is preferred in static runs where the wire will not be pulled through conduit repeatedly or flexed after installation. Cut-to-length purchasing reduces scrap on large runs.
Designed as a standard 6 AWG bare solid copper grounding and bonding conductor compatible with NEC-compliant grounding electrode systems, equipment bonding applications, and pool or spa bonding loops where bare copper is specified.
Installation should be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with NEC Article 250 for grounding and bonding requirements. De-energize all circuits and verify zero voltage before making any terminations. Use listed irreversible or mechanical compression lugs rated for 6 AWG bare copper to ensure code-compliant, low-resistance connections. Do not use this uninsulated conductor in applications requiring an insulated equipment grounding conductor unless permitted by the applicable code section.
