The BARE COPPER bare4/0str19sdmr is a 4/0 AWG, 19-strand soft drawn bare copper conductor available in cut-to-length sections. Soft drawn copper provides greater flexibility than hard drawn wire, making it well suited for grounding applications, bonding runs, and general electrical distribution work where the conductor must be routed through conduit or formed around terminals. The 19-strand construction distributes the cross-section across multiple strands, improving flexibility and resistance to work-hardening compared to solid conductors of the same gauge. With an outer diameter of 0.51 inches and a weight of 653 pounds per thousand feet, this conductor meets the dimensional expectations of standard 4/0 AWG copper.
This conductor is used in commercial and residential electrical installations where a large-gauge bare copper wire is required. Typical applications include grounding electrode conductors, equipment grounding runs, copper bonding in pool and spa systems, and utility service entrance grounding. Electricians and pool bonding technicians are the primary installers. The cut-to-length format eliminates the need to purchase a full reel when only a specific run length is needed for a project.
Designed as a standard 4/0 AWG bare copper grounding and bonding conductor compatible with lugs, compression connectors, and ground clamps rated for 4/0 AWG copper conductors.
Installation must be performed by a licensed electrician in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes. De-energize all circuits and verify zero voltage with a meter before making any connections. Use listed compression lugs or mechanical connectors rated for bare 4/0 AWG copper; do not use connectors rated for aluminum or smaller gauge conductors. Torque all mechanical terminals to the connector manufacturer's listed specification found on the connector packaging or datasheet.
