The BARD 8403-058 is a wall-mount electronic thermostat designed for water source heat pump systems. It supports 2-cool/2-heat operation in conventional mode and stage 1-cool/2-heat operation in heat pump mode, making it well-suited for multi-stage hydronic and water source applications. The non-programmable design with auto and manual changeover gives technicians straightforward control without the complexity of programmable scheduling. Licensed HVAC technicians install this thermostat as a direct control interface for compatible BARD heat pump units in both residential and light commercial settings.
This thermostat is intended for wall-mount installation in systems where water source heat pump operation is required. It covers conventional two-stage cooling and two-stage heating scenarios, as well as heat pump single-stage cooling and two-stage heating configurations. The auto/manual changeover feature allows the system to switch between heating and cooling modes either automatically based on space conditions or manually as the application demands. It is a practical fit for buildings using hydronic or geothermal water source equipment where reliable, no-frills thermostat control is the priority.
Designed for use with BARD WH, SH, TH, WHD, SHD, and THD series water source heat pump units.
Installation should be performed by a licensed HVAC technician familiar with low-voltage thermostat wiring and water source heat pump controls. Power down the heat pump system at the disconnect before removing the existing thermostat or making any wiring connections. Follow the equipment manufacturer wiring diagram and applicable local codes when terminating low-voltage control wires at the thermostat sub-base. Verify system mode selection and staging operation after installation before returning the equipment to service.
