The BANDO BX28 is a classic cogged V-belt in the BX section, designed for power transmission applications across HVAC, agricultural, industrial, and commercial equipment. Constructed from heat-resistant and oil-resistant rubber, this belt features a cogged (notched) underside that increases flexibility, reduces heat buildup, and improves efficiency over standard wrapped belts. The BX28 measures 31.0 inches in outside length with a 21/32-inch width and 13/32-inch thickness. It meets ARPM standards and is a direct drop-in for equipment calling for a BX section belt. HVAC technicians, equipment mechanics, and maintenance trades install this belt as part of routine preventive maintenance or emergency drive replacement.
The BX28 is suited for use in belt-driven blower and fan assemblies, compressors, pumps, and other rotating equipment found in residential and commercial HVAC systems, as well as general industrial machinery. The cogged design allows the belt to flex around smaller-diameter sheaves more easily than a conventional wrapped belt, making it a preferred choice in tight drive configurations. Its rubber construction handles elevated operating temperatures and incidental oil exposure common in mechanical equipment rooms and rooftop units.
Designed as a direct replacement for BX section V-belts with a 28.0 inch internal length designation, compatible with standard BX-section sheaves and variable-speed drives calling for a BX28 belt.
Belt replacement is typically performed by HVAC technicians or mechanical maintenance trades. Disconnect and lock out power to the unit before removing any drive covers or belt guards. Adjust drive tensioning per the equipment manufacturer's specification using a belt tension gauge rather than deflection estimation to avoid over- or under-tensioning, which shortens belt life. Never use belt dressing compounds on cogged rubber V-belts.
