The BANDO 5VX880 is a narrow cogged V-belt designed for power transmission in HVAC, industrial, and commercial equipment applications. Built to the 5VX belt section standard, it measures 88 inches in outside length with a 5/8 inch (0.62 inch) width and 17/32 inch (0.54 inch) thickness. The cogged construction reduces bending resistance, allowing the belt to run cooler and more efficiently over smaller-diameter sheaves compared to a standard wrapped belt. The rubber compound is formulated for heat resistance and oil resistance, extending service life in demanding mechanical environments. This belt meets ARPM standards and is appropriate for installation by HVAC technicians, industrial mechanics, and refrigeration service professionals.
The 5VX880 is suited for use in belt-driven HVAC units, commercial refrigeration condensing units, air handlers, and general industrial machinery where narrow cogged V-belts are specified. The 5VX section is a common drive belt profile found on blower assemblies, compressor drives, and pump drives in both rooftop and split-system commercial equipment. The cogged profile improves grip and reduces slippage during variable-load operation, making it a reliable choice for multi-sheave drive arrangements.
Designed as a direct replacement for any drive application specifying a 5VX section cogged V-belt with an 88 inch outside length. Verify sheave groove profile and center distance before installation.
Belt replacement should be performed by a qualified HVAC technician or industrial mechanic with the drive system fully de-energized and locked out per LOTO procedures. Do not pry the belt over sheave flanges; always adjust center distance to allow proper belt seating. After installation, verify belt tension and alignment per the equipment manufacturer's service documentation before returning the unit to operation.
