The BALAX 43075-010 is a spiral flute tap designed for blind hole threading in a wide range of metallic workpiece materials. Built from M42 powdered metal with a bright/uncoated finish, it carries a 45-degree helix angle and a fast flute style that evacuates chips upward out of the hole, reducing the risk of chip packing in dead-end bores. The modified bottoming chamfer allows threading closer to the bottom of a blind hole than a standard plug or taper tap. Overall length is 2-15/16 inches with a thread length of 0.98 inches. Thread limit is D5, suitable for general-purpose tolerance requirements in metric coarse applications.
This tap is suited for production and maintenance threading operations in blind holes across a broad material spectrum including aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, copper, magnesium, stainless steel, wrought aluminum alloy, and zinc. The BX200 series designation indicates BALAX's powdered metal spiral flute line, commonly used in machine tapping applications on CNC machining centers, drill presses, and tapping machines where consistent thread quality and tool life are priorities. Coolant-through is not supported on this tap.
Designed for M10x1.50 metric coarse blind hole threading applications in aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, copper, magnesium, stainless steel, wrought aluminum alloy, and zinc workpieces.
Machine tapping with this tap should be performed by a qualified machinist following standard tapping procedures for blind holes. Ensure the spindle speed and feed rate are appropriate for the workpiece material and tap diameter before starting the cycle. Use a suitable cutting fluid or tapping compound for the material being threaded to extend tool life and improve thread quality. Inspect the tap for wear or chipping after extended runs, as a worn tap can produce out-of-tolerance threads or break in the bore.
