The BALAX 18389-010 is a thread forming tap designed for cutting M6x1.00 metric coarse internal threads in blind hole applications. Unlike cutting taps, this forming tap displaces material rather than removing it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear from the hole. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it is suited for use in ductile materials such as aluminum, copper, and mild steel. The bottoming chamfer with 1.5 threads of lead allows threading to the bottom of shallow blind holes. Overall length is 2.5 inches with a tapping depth of 1.0 inch, making it compatible with standard tap wrenches and CNC tapping attachments.
