The BALAX 17342-010 is a thread forming STI tap designed for cutting M2 x 0.4 metric coarse internal threads in materials suitable for cold forming. Unlike cutting taps, this forming tap displaces material rather than removing it, producing stronger threads with no chips to clear. Built from high-speed steel with a bright uncoated finish, it carries a D2 thread limit and a bottoming chamfer for threading close to the bottom of blind holes. Overall length is 1.875 inches with a 0.5625-inch thread length, making it well suited for tight spaces and short-depth threading applications in precision assemblies.
