The BALAX 13084-01T is a thread forming tap designed to produce 5/16-18 UNC internal threads in ductile metals without cutting or generating chips. Using a cold-forming action, the tap displaces material to create strong, work-hardened threads in blind holes. Built from high-speed steel (HSS) with a titanium nitride (TiN) coating, the 13084-01T delivers added surface hardness and lubricity for extended tool life in production and maintenance tapping operations. The bottoming chamfer, at 2.5 threads, allows threading close to the bottom of a blind hole. Overall length is 2.7188 inches with a tapping depth of 1.125 inches.

This tap is suited for blind hole threading applications in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where chip-free thread forming is required. The BXB series bottoming configuration is commonly used in machine shops, manufacturing lines, and MRO environments where threading must reach near the bottom of a drilled hole. It is installed using standard tapping machines, CNC machining centers, or hand tap wrenches. The H4 thread limit ensures consistent tolerance control for production-run applications.
